Most tracks have a maximum grid of 32 cars. As there are so many Ginetta race entrants, the weekend must be split into a number of heats.

Qualifying usually takes place on the Saturday morning. The top 8 fastest cars from qualifying go into heat A on Sunday morning. AVO Ginetta Championship action shotThe remaining 32 cars will run in heat B Saturday afternoon. The top 8 cars out of heat B go into the final race on Sunday afternoon. The remaining 26 cars join the 8 top fastest cars from qualifying in heat A on Sunday morning. The top 26 cars from heat A will then join the top 8 cars from heat B in the final race. The final race on Sunday is the race where the points are awarded; these are as follows:

1st place = 30 points 7th place = 14 points 13th place = 6 points
2nd place = 26 points 8th place = 12 points 14th place = 5 points
3rd place = 22 points 9th place = 10 points 15th place = 4 points
4th place = 20 points 10th place = 9 points 16th place = 3 points
5th place = 18 points 11th place = 8 points 17th place = 2 points
6th place = 16 points 12th place = 7 points 18th place = 1 point

1 Point is also awarded to the driver who obtains pole position and to the driver with the fastest lap in the race. The race weekend structure may change when fewer than 32 cars are present or if the grid accommodates more cars. In these cases there will be a practice and a qualify on the Saturday, followed by the championship race and an optional non-championship race in the Sunday.
